11 Healthful Tips for the Holidays

The American Cancer Society has issued 11 Heathful Tips For The Holidays. These 11 practical tips to reduce the risk of being diagnosed with cancer were released for the Holidays.

11 Days of Working Towards a Cancer-Free New Year

1. Quit smoking. Make a plan. Set a date. Ask for help from the American Cancer Society, or call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

2. Make choices about where your family dines. Many restaurants offer smoke-free environments that protect you and your family from dangerous second-hand smoke.

3. Make an appointment for your yearly physical.

4. Make appointments for cancer screening tests: breast, cervical. prostate, and or/colon.

5. Pay close attention to your body and changes that may occur. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about any changes.

6. Maintain a healthy weight. Visit www.cancer.org for tips on healthy lifestyle choices.

7. Limit alcohol consumption and exercise regularly.

8. Follow your local and national legislators' actions on cancer-related issues. Let them know your opinions.

9. Maximize tax savings by making a year-end charitable donation to the American Cancer Society.

10. Place www.cancer.org in your favorites or home page to keep up on latest information about cancer.

11. Call 1-800-ACS-2345 for information or services if you or someone you know has cancer.
